More about our techniques
Swedish
Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the
tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases
circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and
tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish Massage also stimulates the
skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It
reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular
program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu technique refers to the use of fingers and the palm of one's hands to
apply pressure to particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose
of correcting imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and promoting health.
Reflexology
Foot Reflexology is an ancient form of "pressure treatment" and involves
applying focused pressure to certain known "reflex" points located in the foot,
which correspond to certain other areas in the body. Some of the recognized
benefits from receiving a reflexology treatment include increased circulation,
relaxation, and release of tensions.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower
strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of
the muscles not with the grain. Deep tissue massage helps to break up and
eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific
areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage.
Sports Massage
Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before,
during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the
athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to
reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.
Polarity
Polarity therapy is a four-part approach to balancing the energetic patterns of
the body. Based on principles developed by Randolph Stone, an osteopath,
naturopath and chiropractor, this therapy combines bodywork, nutrition,
stretching postures and attitudinal counseling to free energy blockages and
establish a natural energy flow for self-healing.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen therapy uses relatively few, gentle "moves" over muscle and other soft
tissue addresses the whole body, stimulating it to reset and heal itself. The
healing may occur at all levels as needed: physical, chemical, emotional,
mental, energetic, etc.
Raindrop Therapy
Raindrop therapy is an application of dropping certain oils like little drops of
rain from about six inches above the body along the entire length of the spine.
Light strokes with the fingers which stimulate energy impulses and disperse the
oils along the nervous system throughout the entire body. In this way, the body
can be brought into balance and the energy centers can be cleared and realigned.
It will also help to straighten any spinal curvatures. It is a tremendous boost
to the immune system as it releases toxins and kills viruses and bacteria that
have accumulated in the spine. Although a session lasts for about 45 minutes to
an hour, the oils will continue to work in the body for a week or more following
the treatment. One application may last months or it may be necessary to repeat
the application every week until the body begins to respond.
Joint Mobilization
Joint mobilization is a treatment technique that uses graded accessory movements
to improve joint mobility or decrease pain.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release therapy utilizes gentle, kneading manipulation that softly
stretches, softens, lengthens and realigns fascia. After careful observation of
ones posture, a myofascial release therapist will feel for stressed areas of the
body. When restricted areas are found, the myofascial release therapist will
gently stretch tissues found along the direction of the muscle fibers. This
stretch is held for a couple of minutes until a softening or release is felt.
These stretches are repeated until the tension is felt no more. A myofascial
release session may last up to an hour and can be administered one to three
times per week depending on a patient's condition.
Hot Stone therapy
Hot Stone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of
varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating
sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing
manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. The warmer stones
expand the blood vessels, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the
body. This has a sedative effect on the nervous system.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a complementary, biological, integrative health science, through
which an exercise pressure is applied to reflex areas, formed by 7,200 nerve
endings in each hand and foot, encouraging improved instruction to each and
every single gland, organ and part of the body, Thus Persuading the body to
biologically correct, strengthen, and reinforce itself, to reach balance,
normalization, and homeostasis. Thus, by working on one part of the body (foot
area) there is an effect on another. The goals of reflexology are to re-educate,
re-pattern and re-condition the nerves through the neural/electrical system of
the body.
Natural Indian Clay Facial
This method of skin exfoliation has been used by the Native American Indians for
centuries. The fine texture of mineral rich clay and water is applied to the
face, eyes, lips, neck and chest and removed with delicate hands which gently
loosen and remove the dead cells. This method promotes the growth of new cells,
and evens the skin tone. Excellent for those with sensitive skin, rosacea and
acne, without any adverse reaction. Accutane and Retin-A user patients are
welcome to experience the clay facial, as it is very mild and calming with no
skin irritation.
Essential Oils
Young Living Essential Oils are used in our applications of Raindrop Therapy.
It's really important to understand that the safety and life-changing effects of
essential oils are dependent entirely on their purity and their quality.
Generally speaking, essential oils that you find in department stores, and even
health food stores, are of uncertain quality at best. That's why Young Living
has made its mission to provide you with the very best, independently tested
essential oils.
Rehydrating Spa for Hands &
Feet
Paraffin Heat Therapy provides soothing moist heat to warm joints, tissue and
skin. It is ideal for the treatment of clients suffering from pain associated
with arthritis, strains, sprains, joint stiffness, and it is also used to
increase range of motion.
